DETERMINATION OF CLINICAL EFFICACY AND SIDE EFFECTS OF NITROMINT^R SPRAY; A RANDOMIZED CLINICAL TRIAL

Abstract

Background- Nitroglycerin in sublingual form is an established therapy for the ‎treatment of angina. Sublingual TNG spray has been widely used in Europe and North ‎America for several years. This study is conducted to compare another preparation, ‎Nitromint^R spray, with a standard preparation (Nitrolingual^ R spray) in our ‎population.<br />‎ Methods- Sixty coronary artery disease (CAD) patients, documented by angiography, ‎noninvasive stress tests or previous history of MI, completed this randomized clinical ‎trial for the comparison of efficacy and safety of Nitromint^R spray and ‎Nitrolingual^R spray.<br />‎ ‎ Results- There was no significant differences in the duration of symptoms, dose ‎numbers and the time of relief of the symptoms. Also, no significant differences were ‎noted in the frequencies and types of adverse effects.<br />‎ Conclusion- Nitromint^R spray is as effective and safe as NitrolingualR spray for the ‎treatment of symptomatic coronary artery disease (Iranian Heart Journal 2003; 4 (2, ‎‎3):‎ ‏ (39-42).‏
