Boehmite (BOH) nanoparticles modified by glycine/β-cyclodextrin (BOH/Gly/βCD) and ethylenediamine/β-cyclodextrin (BOH/NH2/βCD) were synthesized and used to remove crystal violet (CV), and malachite green (MG) dyes from synthetic wastewater. Multiple analytical approaches were utilized for the characterization of the prepared samples. The synthesized adsorbents demonstrated a high efficiency in adsorbing organic dyes, exhibiting performance comparable to that of other adsorbents. The research findings illustrate that the kinetic model of the pseudo-second-order aligns more closely with the experimental data based on kinetic studies. According to the Weber-Morris kinetic model, intraparticle diffusion is a two-step and gradual process. Furthermore, the adsorbents exhibited a high maximum adsorption capacity for crystal violet, and MG dyes onto BOH/Gly/βCD was calculated 97.40 and 102.93 mg/g, and onto BOH/NH2/βCD was found to 104.14 and 102.32 mg/g, respectively. The adsorption process based on calculated thermodynamic parameters is endothermic in the first stage and exothermic in the second stage. Methanol was chosen as the adsorbents washing solvent for the recovery and reuse of nanoadsorbents and in the sixth consecutive adsorption-desorption process. Finally, the BOH/Gly/βCD and BOH/NH2/βCD nanoparticles can be used as new nano adsorbents for the adsorption of various dyes from industrial sewage.
