| dc.description.abstract | <span><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Pix is a plant growth regulators </span><span><span>that</span></span><span><span>interferes</span></span><span><span>with</span></span><span><span>other</span></span><span><span>hormones and affect</span></span><span><span>the</span></span><span><span>germination</span></span><span><span>and</span></span><span><span>growth</span></span><span><span>of cotton.</span></span></span></span><span style="font-size: medium;"><span><span>In this</span></span><span><span>study</span></span><span><span>the effect of</span></span><span><span>different</span></span><span><span>concentrations</span></span><span><span>of</span></span><span><span> pix, namely, </span></span><span><span>0 (control),</span></span><span><span>10, 20, 30</span></span><span><span>and</span></span><span><span>40</span></span><span><span> ppm </span></span><span><span>on germination,</span></span><span><span>radicle</span></span><span><span>dry weight, radicle</span></span><span><span>length,</span></span><span><span>insoluble</span></span><span><span>and</span></span><span><span>soluble sugars</span></span><span><span>and</span></span><span><span>antioxidant</span></span><span><span>enzymes activity</span></span><span><span> (catalase, peroxidase and poly phenol oxidase) </span></span><span><span>in</span></span><span><span>cotton</span></span><span><span>seedling </span></span><span><span style="font-family: Calibri;">(<em>Gossypium hirsutum </em>L.<span>cv Ci-Ocra</span><em>) </em></span><span><span><span> </span></span></span><span><span>in Petri dishes</span></span><span><span>were</span></span><span><span>examined.</span></span><span style="font-family: Calibri;"> The results showed that germination percentage and radicle growth increased in concentration of 20 ppm of pix, </span><span><span>also</span></span><span><span>radicle</span></span><span><span>dry weight reduced</span></span><span><span>at concentrations</span></span><span><span>10</span></span><span><span>and</span></span><span><span>40 </span></span><span><span>ppm.</span></span><span><span> In addition, analysis of data revealed that</span></span><span><span>different concentrations</span></span><span><span> of pix did not affect catalase </span></span><span><span>enzyme </span></span><span><span>activity while it </span></span><span><span>increased</span></span><span><span>peroxidase</span></span><span><span> and poly phenol oxidase </span></span><span><span>activity</span></span><span><span>as compared to the</span></span><span><span>control.</span></span></span></span>
