Introduction. Osteoarthritis (OA) is one of the most common forms of articular disease and one of the major causes of pain and disability especially in old age. The purpose of this study is to assay therapeutic effect of oral chloroquine in comparison with intraarticular injection of corticosteroid in management of osteoarthritis. Methods. A controlled randomized clinical trial study was done in Isfahan Alzahra hospital from October 2000 to September 2001 (11 months). The eligible patients were randomized in one of the therapeutic modalities (oral chloroquine: 15 patients; Intraarticular steroid injection: 15 patient).
