dc.description.abstract | The Intraoperative MRI is of great importance in the surgical removal of gliomas or cranial base tumors. However, the sole use of a intraoperative MRI is problematic, so that a dual system has been developed to optimize the utilization of the equipment, which can be used both for neurosurgical patients and for outpatient or stationary Patients. Within the framework of the new head Center at the Asklepios Clinic Nord/Heidberg, in Hamburg/ Germany a 1.5 T-MRT was connected directly to the neurosurgical operation-tract in 2011, which is provided with two separate entrances. The treatment of the MRI room, such as air purification, is carried out according to the same standards that apply to neurosurgical operation units. The dual system concept is suitable for intraoperative, outpatient or stationary MRI investigations and does not lead to an increased risk of infection or treatment.
