Englishچکیده
Thelens of theeyeis one of themost radiation sensitive tissues of the body. Additionally, unlike other organs, the ionizing radiation effect on the lens of the eye is deterministic and cumulative leading to cataract. Radiation induced cataract can be distinguishable from the more common age-related cataract. The cataract maximum occupational dose hazard has recently been decreased. Multiple published studies demonstrated that half of the interventional radiologists and interventional cardiologists have radiation damage to the lens. Yet, only 25% to 36% of interventionalists utilize basic protection techniques. Radiation exposure to the eye can be minimized by taking three simple and effective steps: exercising healthy fluoroscopy habits, using personal protective devices, and employing barrier protection.
